Eligibility

Can You Apply?

Three checks generally decide eligibility: degree, percentage, and final-year status. Always cross-check the specific university's own MBA eligibility criteria as well, since some add extra conditions.

Bachelor's Degree

A 3-year (or equivalent) bachelor's degree in any discipline, from a UGC-recognized university.

Minimum Aggregate

Typically 50% aggregate for General/EWS/OBC, 45% for SC/ST/PwD — exact thresholds can vary slightly by university.

Final-Year Students

Generally eligible to apply provisionally. Final degree certificate & marksheet must be submitted before the respective university's admission deadline.

No Age Limit, No Attempt Cap

There's typically no minimum or maximum age to apply, and no limit on how many times you can attempt CUET PG.
Unlike CAT, CUET PG is a single national-level test whose score is used by each participating university independently — there's no centralized cutoff. A score that gets you a seat at one university may not be enough at another, since each runs its own counselling, seat-matrix, and category-wise reservation policy. Always check the specific university's prospectus for its exact MBA admission process.
Selection Process

One Score, Many Universities.

CUET PG has no centralized interview or counselling of its own — NTA's role ends once your scorecard is released. What happens next depends entirely on which university and programme you apply to.

1. CUET PG Score / Scorecard

NTA releases a single scorecard for the Management domain paper. This one score is what you use to apply across every participating university that accepts CUET PG for MBA — unlike CAT, where each IIM effectively runs its own separate applicant pool.

2. University-Wise Application

After results, you apply separately to each university's own admission/counselling portal, entering your CUET PG score and selecting programme preferences. Deadlines, forms, and processes differ by university — NTA doesn't run a common application step after the scorecard.

3. University-Specific Shortlisting

Some universities admit purely on CUET PG score; others shortlist candidates for a further round — a Group Discussion (GD), Personal Interview (PI), or Written Ability Test (WAT) — conducted entirely by that university, not by NTA. There is no single, common interview process across all participating institutions.

4. Final Merit List & Seat Allotment

Each university publishes its own merit list, runs its own seat-allotment rounds, and sets its own reporting/document-verification deadlines — independently of every other participating university.
Important: Because the post-score process varies so much by university, always check the specific institution's official prospectus and admission notice for its exact selection steps — score-only admission, GD-PI-WAT, or something else entirely — rather than assuming one common CUET PG process applies everywhere.

Data source & caveats: University names and programme fee ranges are drawn from each institution's last published prospectus / fee structure, current as of this writing. Fee figures are approximate full-programme estimates and vary by category (General/OBC/SC/ST/EWS), hostel/mess charges, and annual revisions — they are not placement-linked ROI figures like a typical IIM comparison table, since reliable, standardized placement data isn't publicly available across most of these universities. Always verify participation, seat intake, and exact fees directly on each university's official admission portal before relying on this for a student-facing decision — some universities add or drop CUET PG participation from year to year.
Previous Year Analysis

What Tends To Repeat, What Tends To Shift.

NTA has revised the CUET PG format across past cycles — question count, duration, and total marks are not guaranteed to stay identical year to year. Here's what's been broadly consistent for the Management domain paper.

Quant & DI Trend

Consistently the highest-weightage section by marks — arithmetic-heavy, Class 10–12 difficulty, tested for speed rather than depth
Data Interpretation sets have generally stayed table/graph-based rather than heavily caselet-driven
Since the paper isn't sectionally timed, candidates who are slower at Quant tend to eat into time that Reasoning or English could have used

Reasoning Trend

A mix of quick standalone questions (syllogism, coding-decoding, blood relations) rather than CAT-style multi-question puzzle sets
Generally considered the fastest section to attempt, since individual questions resolve quicker than DI sets or long RC passages

English & Awareness Trend

RC passages tend to be shorter and more direct than CAT-style passages, rewarding comprehension speed over deep inference
General/Business Awareness draws heavily on the months immediately preceding the exam — current-affairs revision closer to exam date tends to pay off more than a single early round of GK study
Takeaway: Since NTA has revised the exact number of questions, marks, and duration across past cycles, always confirm the current cycle's official information bulletin at cuet.nta.nic.in rather than assuming the confirmed 2026 pattern shown in the Exam Pattern section above carries over unchanged to the next cycle.
Preparation Strategy

A Different Plan For Every Starting Point.

CUET PG's single-shot, section-untimed, speed-focused format rewards a different kind of prep than CAT — and since one score can open several universities, your target list should shape your prep priorities.

Beginner (First Attempt, 4+ Months Out)

Build Quant fundamentals from Class 10–12 level up, since Quant & DI carries the most marks. Develop a daily reading habit for English Comprehension, and start a running current-affairs notebook early — General/Business Awareness is cumulative and hard to cram late.

Intermediate (Concepts Covered, 2–4 Months Out)

Move to section-wise timed practice. Since the full paper isn't sectionally timed, use this phase to figure out your own attempt order — many candidates clear Reasoning and English first, then spend remaining time on Quant & DI, or vice versa. Start full-length mocks and track accuracy by section.

Advanced (<2 Months Out)

Drill speed on Quant & DI and Reasoning, since together they're over half the paper's marks and the biggest bottleneck in a 90-minute, 75-question test. Weekly full mocks under strict timing, plus a tight current-affairs revision cycle for the final month.

Working Professional (Limited Daily Hours)

Time-boxed study: 1–1.5 hours on weekdays, 4–5 hours on weekends. Prioritize Quant & DI and Reasoning first since they're the highest-weightage, most trainable sections. Use commute time for RC and current-affairs reading; a shorter list of well-analyzed mocks beats many rushed ones.

FAQ

Common Questions.

When is CUET PG 2026?+
CUET PG 2026 (Management/MBA paper) was conducted on March 8, 2026, following the official notification NTA released on December 14, 2025. Results were declared April 24, 2026. Check cuet.nta.nic.in for the 2027 cycle.
What is the CUET PG exam pattern for MBA?+
Based on recent CUET PG cycles, the Management domain paper has around 75 MCQs across Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation, Logical & Analytical Reasoning, English Language & Comprehension, and General/Business Awareness, to be completed in 90 minutes, for a total of 300 marks.
What is the CUET PG marking scheme?+
Each correct answer typically gets +4 marks, with -1 for each incorrect answer. Unattempted questions are not penalized. Confirm the exact scheme in the official NTA information bulletin once released.
Who is eligible for CUET PG (MBA)?+
Candidates generally need a Bachelor's degree in any discipline with at least 50% aggregate marks (45% for reserved categories) from a recognized university. Final-year students can usually apply provisionally. Specific eligibility can vary slightly by participating university.
Which universities accept CUET PG for MBA admission?+
Several central universities accept CUET PG scores for MBA admission, including Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Banaras Hindu University (BHU), University of Hyderabad, Pondicherry University, and a number of other central universities across India. Each university conducts its own counselling and seat allocation based on CUET PG scores.
What is a good score in CUET PG for MBA admission?+
For top central universities like JNU and BHU, scoring above 220-240 out of 300 (roughly 75%+) gives you a strong shot at the more competitive MBA programmes. Mid-tier participating universities and newer central universities typically admit at lower cutoffs, so a score of 180-200 can still secure a seat in many programmes. Cutoffs vary by university, category and the number of applicants each year.
Is CUET PG a good alternative to CAT for an MBA?+
CUET PG is a solid option if you want a central-university MBA without competing in the much larger CAT applicant pool, and it allows a single application to reach multiple participating universities through one test. It's not a replacement for CAT if your target is an IIM, but for students aiming at JNU, BHU, or other central university MBA programmes, CUET PG is often a more direct, less crowded route with a syllabus that overlaps significantly with CAT preparation.
How does the "one score, many universities" system work in CUET PG?+
Unlike CAT, where each IIM effectively runs its own separate admission pool, CUET PG produces a single scorecard per domain paper that many participating universities accept directly. You take the exam once, then apply separately to each university's own admission/counselling process using that same score — rather than each university requiring its own entrance test.
Is there a centralized interview or counselling process for CUET PG?+
No. NTA's role ends once your CUET PG scorecard is released. Each participating university runs its own subsequent process independently — some admit purely on CUET PG score, others add a Group Discussion, Personal Interview, or Written Ability Test. There is no single, common interview conducted by NTA across all universities.
Is a calculator allowed in the CUET PG exam?+
No physical calculator is permitted inside the exam hall. As with most NTA-conducted CBT exams, calculations for Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation questions generally need to be done by hand — check your admit card and the official information bulletin for the exact rough-sheet policy for your cycle.
What is the CUET PG application fee for the Management/MBA paper?+
For the 2026 cycle, the fee for up to two domain papers was ₹1,400 for General category candidates, ₹1,200 for OBC-NCL/EWS, and ₹1,100 for SC/ST/PwD/Third gender candidates, with additional charges for extra domain papers. Always confirm the exact current fee in the official NTA information bulletin before paying.
What documents should I carry on CUET PG exam day?+
Carry your CUET PG admit card (printed) and a valid original photo ID matching the name on your admit card — Aadhaar, PAN, passport, driving licence, or voter ID are commonly accepted formats for NTA exams. Photocopies or expired IDs are typically not accepted. Always check your specific admit card for any additional exam-day instructions.
