What is NIMCET?


NIMCET is a national-level entrance examination conducted for admission into the MCA (Master of Computer Applications) program offered by National Institutes of Technology (NITs) across India.

The exam assesses candidates on Mathematics, Analytical Ability, Logical Reasoning, and Computer Awareness, ensuring selection of students with strong technical and problem-solving skills. Through centralized counseling, NIMSET provides a transparent and merit-based admission process.

Who can apply for NIMCET?

  • Bachelor’s degree with Mathematics / Statistics as a compulsory subject
  • BCA, BSc (IT/CS), or equivalent graduates are eligible
  • Minimum percentage criteria as per NIT admission rules
  • Final-year students can apply, subject to proof of qualification
  • Applicable for admission to MCA programmes in NITs across India

• Set Theory & Logic :- Sets and subsets, operations, Relations & functions, Venn diagrams, Logic: statements, truth tables, tautologies • Algebra :- Quadratic and linear equations, Progressions: AP, GP, HP Permutations & combinations, binomial theorem, Indices and logarithms, Matrices and determinants, Systems of linear equations • Calculus:- Limits and continuity, Differentiation and applications, Integration techniques (subs, parts, partial fractions), Maxima & minima Definite integrals and areas • Coordinate Geometry :- Straight lines, Circle and conic sections (ellipse, parabola, hyperbola) , Distance & section formulae • Probability & Statistics : - Basic probability Mean, median, mode Standard deviation & variance • Trigonometry : - Identities and equations, Heights & distances , Inverse trigonometric values

Verbal and non-verbal reasoning , Deductive & inductive reasoning, Puzzles (arrangements, seating, directions), Coding-decoding, Blood relations, Series (number/letter), Syllogisms, Input-output problems, Data interpretation & data sufficiency, Critical thinking scenarios

Computer basics & CPU organization, Data representation & number systems, Binary arithmetic & Boolean algebra, Input/output devices, memory types Hardware vs software fundamentals, Internet & email basics
