Eligibility

Can You Apply?

OJEE (MCA) eligibility is straightforward — a qualifying bachelor's degree with Mathematics.

Bachelor's Degree with Mathematics

Mathematics as one subject at 10+2 or graduation level.

Minimum 50% Aggregate

General/OBC need 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying degree. Reserved category candidates need 45%.

Domicile Not Mandatory

Odisha domicile is preferred for state quota seats; open category seats are available separately for candidates from other states.
Selection Process

From Rank To Admission.

Your OJEE MCA rank is only the first step — seat allotment happens through a structured counselling process after results are declared.

1. Rank List Declaration

The OJEE Board releases the category-wise rank list based on your score, as noted in the registration timeline above.

2. Counselling Registration & Choice Filling

Ranked candidates register separately for counselling and fill their preferred institutes and courses online.

3. Seat Allotment Rounds

Seats are allotted across one or more rounds based on rank, category (state quota vs open), and seat availability at each institute.

4. Document Verification & Reporting

Allotted candidates complete document verification and report to the institute within the specified window to confirm admission.
Where OJEE Can Take You

Top Colleges Accepting OJEE.

OJEE scores are accepted by institutes across Odisha for MCA admissions.

Rank College Approx. Seats Total Fees Average Placement Honest Verdict
1KIIT University, Bhubaneswar~120 (approx.)~₹3.84 L~₹8–10 LPAStrongest overall placement brand on this list (highest package reported up to ₹25–30 LPA), but also the priciest — worth it if you can afford the fee.
2Siksha 'O' Anusandhan (SOA) / ITER~360~₹3 L~₹6–8 LPALarge intake and a well-established private deemed university — solid mid-range choice between KIIT's cost and the state universities' affordability.
3Silicon Institute of Technology, BhubaneswarNot published~₹3.2 LNot publishedOne of the larger established OJEE-linked private institutes in Odisha for MCA — verify current placement stats directly with the institute.
4Utkal University~40~₹1–1.5 LNot publishedOdisha's oldest state university and the most budget-friendly government option here — solid pick if you prefer a general university over a technical institute.
5Ravenshaw University~48~₹87,500~₹3.5 LPAVery affordable government fee, but placement package is modest compared to the private options above — reasonable for state-quota candidates prioritizing cost.
6IIIT Bhubaneswar (select programs)Not publishedNot publishedNot publishedCarries the strongest brand value on this list, but intake is limited to select programs — confirm seat availability before counting on it.
Note: OJEE MCA ranks are accepted by 20+ participating institutes across Odisha in total; this table covers the most prominent ones. Figures above are approximate, drawn from each institute's public disclosures — confirm current numbers directly with each institute before applying.
Previous Year Analysis

What Recent Papers Show.

General trend observations across recent OJEE MCA cycles — treat these as directional patterns to guide your prep focus, not exact statistics.

Mathematics Trend

The 30-question weightage has stayed consistent with the official pattern across recent cycles
Algebra and calculus questions tend to sit at a 10+2/graduation foundational level rather than advanced applied problems
Coordinate geometry and probability typically form a smaller share compared to algebra and calculus

Logical Reasoning Trend

A mix of verbal reasoning (series, coding-decoding, blood relations) and analytical/puzzle-based questions typically appears together
Data interpretation sets are generally table or chart-based rather than heavily calculation-intensive

Computer Awareness Trend

Fundamentals — computer basics, number systems and basic programming logic — tend to form the bulk of this section
DBMS and operating-system concepts typically appear at an introductory level rather than requiring advanced technical depth
Preparation Strategy

A Plan For Every Starting Point.

OJEE MCA prep looks different depending on where you're starting from — here's how to approach it at each stage.

Beginner

Build core fundamentals first — 10+2-level Mathematics, basic computer concepts (number systems, basic programming logic), and simple verbal/analytical reasoning. Focus on understanding concepts over speed at this stage.

Intermediate

Move to mixed-topic practice sets across all three sections, start attempting sectional tests, and build familiarity with DBMS and programming fundamentals alongside continued reasoning practice.

Advanced

Attempt full-length mock tests under timed conditions, maintain an error log to target weak areas, and revise formulas and shortcut techniques across Mathematics and Logical Reasoning.

Working Professional

Use time-boxed daily sessions to cover high-weightage topics first, rely on weekend hours for full-length mocks, and prioritise sections you can improve fastest — Computer Awareness fundamentals are often the quickest to revise in limited time.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

OJEE (Odisha Joint Entrance Examination) is conducted by the Odisha JEE Board for admission into MCA, MBA, and engineering/technical programs at institutes across Odisha.

OJEE MCA is a 90-minute computer-based test with 90 multiple-choice questions covering Mathematics, Logical Reasoning, and Computer Awareness, with no negative marking.

Registration typically opens in late January, with the application window closing in March and the exam conducted in May. Exact dates are notified on the official OJEE Board website each cycle — see our registration timeline below.

No — OJEE has both state quota seats (which prefer Odisha domicile) and open category seats available to candidates from other states, subject to each institute's specific policy.

OJEE does not publicly specify a maximum number of attempts — candidates who meet the qualifying-degree and age criteria in a given year's official notification can reapply each cycle. Always check that year's OJEE Board notification for any attempt-related conditions.

As a computer-based test, OJEE (MCA) generally does not permit candidates to carry physical calculators, mobile phones, or other electronic devices into the exam hall. Confirm the exact permitted/prohibited items list in your admit card instructions before exam day.

OJEE (MCA) does not publish a fixed cutoff score — the rank needed for a seat depends on the institute, category, and that year's difficulty level and applicant pool. Since there is no negative marking, attempting all 90 questions with strong accuracy across Mathematics, Logical Reasoning and Computer Awareness generally supports a more competitive rank.

For OJEE 2026, the application fee was ₹1,000 for a single course, with an additional ₹500 for each extra course added within the same application. The fee is set by the OJEE Board and can change each cycle, so check the official OJEE information brochure for the current year's exact amount.

After the rank list is released, candidates register for OJEE counselling, fill their choices of institutes and courses online, and are allotted seats across one or more rounds based on rank, category and seat availability. Allotted candidates then complete document verification and reporting at the institute to confirm admission.

Candidates typically need their OJEE admit card and rank card, 10th and 12th (or graduation) mark sheets and certificates, category/reservation certificate if applicable, Odisha domicile certificate for state quota consideration, a valid photo ID, and passport-size photographs. The official counselling brochure lists the exact document checklist for each cycle.

No separate application process is needed — non-Odisha candidates fill the same OJEE application and choice-filling form. During counselling, seats are split between state quota (which prioritises Odisha domicile candidates) and open category (open to all candidates); your allotment depends on which category you're eligible for and your rank.

OJEE MCA ranks are accepted by 20+ participating institutes across Odisha, including KIIT University, Siksha 'O' Anusandhan (SOA/ITER), Silicon Institute of Technology, select programs at IIIT Bhubaneswar, Utkal University, and Ravenshaw University, among others.
