Eligibility

Can You Apply?

Most specific eligibility conditions are set by individual universities, not NTA.

Class 12 Pass or Appearing

Any recognized board.

No Fixed Minimum Percentage (NTA Level)

Individual universities/programs may set their own criteria.

Subject Choice Matters

Some programs require a specific Class 12 subject — check prerequisites before choosing.

No Age Limit, No Attempt Cap

No minimum/maximum age, no limit on attempts across years.
Each participating university runs its own counselling and cutoff independently — a score that secures a seat at one university may not be enough at another.
Selection Process

One Score, Many Universities.

CUET UG itself has no centralized interview or single merit list — here's how a score turns into an admission.

Step 1 — CUET UG Score

NTA declares normalized, subject-wise scores. NTA does not conduct any interview or prepare a combined merit list itself.

Step 2 — Apply To Each University Separately

Using your CUET UG scorecard, you apply independently to each university's own admission portal (e.g. DU's CSAS, or a university-specific portal).

Step 3 — University-Run Counselling

Each university conducts its own seat-allotment rounds using your CUET UG score as an input, alongside its own preference and reservation rules.

One Score, No Central Interview

The same CUET UG attempt can be used across 250+ universities — much like CUET PG feeds separate PG admissions, there is no single centralized counselling or interview for UG either.
Where CUET UG Can Take You

💼 BMS / BBA (FIA)

Important: this is deliberately not labeled simply "BBA" — DU runs BMS, BBA(FIA), and B.A. (Hons.) Business Economics as distinct programmes with different college availability. DU's admission FAQ explicitly treats these as separate programmes.

*Benchmark Year 2026: the approximate CUET UG unreserved-category cutoff score colleges accepted in the 2026 admission cycle for that programme, drawn from CSAS/college-published data. Target Year 2027: a directional score to aim for, not an official prediction — actual 2027 cutoffs depend on that year's exam difficulty, normalization, and seat matrix. Always cross-check against DU's official CSAS bulletin closer to counselling.
Previous Year Analysis

What Past Cycles Tell You.

CUET UG is still a young, evolving exam — treat year-on-year comparisons with caution.

Domain Subject List Keeps Evolving

Don't assume last year's list carries over
NTA has added, merged, or dropped domain subjects across cycles — the exact subject list for the coming year may differ from previous bulletins.

Subject-Choice Limit Has Been Revised

The max-subjects cap has changed more than once
The maximum number of subjects a candidate could attempt has been revised across recent cycles — always confirm the current year's limit rather than relying on an earlier one.

Format Shift Reduces Comparability

Hybrid CBT+OMR to fully-CBT
CUET UG moved from an earlier hybrid CBT+OMR structure to a fully computer-based format — difficulty and pacing commentary from older, hybrid-format years may not translate directly to the current CBT-only exam.
These are general, directional observations, not statistics — always cross-check against the official NTA bulletin for the year you're appearing in.
Preparation Strategy

A Plan For Your Stage.

CUET UG prep is really N parallel preps — one per domain subject you've chosen, plus the Language section.

Beginner

Lock in your domain subject combination early. Build a base with NCERT Class 12 textbooks for each chosen subject — CUET UG questions map closely to the NCERT syllabus.

Intermediate

Start subject-wise practice tests for every domain paper you've chosen plus the Language section. Track accuracy carefully given the +5/−1 marking scheme.

Advanced

Move to full-length, timed mocks that replicate the 60-minute-per-paper structure. Run sectional speed drills on your weakest domain subject and revise official practice material.

Repeater / Working Professional

Since there's no cap on attempts, candidates prepping alongside work or a gap year should focus on a fast NCERT Class 12 refresher for only the domain subjects their target university actually requires.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Expected in May 2027, with the official notification typically released by NTA in January 2027 (based on the CUET UG 2026 bulletin, released January 3, 2026). The exact date will be confirmed on cuet.nta.nic.in.

Based on recent patterns, candidates can choose a maximum of 5 subjects in total (across Language and Domain sections). NTA has revised this limit more than once — confirm the current year's bulletin.

A Language section, Domain Subject papers (choose from 23 subjects), and an optional General Test. Each paper has a uniform 50 questions in 60 minutes, for 250 marks, with +5 correct / -1 incorrect marking.

Passed or appearing in Class 12 from a recognized board. No fixed minimum percentage set by NTA itself, though individual universities may set their own criteria.

All central universities plus a large number of state, deemed, and private universities — over 250 institutions in recent cycles, each running its own counselling.

Delhi University colleges dominate most domains via the CSAS portal. For Commerce, SRCC and Hindu College lead. For Humanities, Hindu College, LSR, Miranda House and JNU stand out. BHU and JMI are major destinations across nearly all streams.

No. There is no cap on the number of times you can appear for CUET UG across years, as long as you meet the Class 12 pass/appearing eligibility each time.

No. Calculators, log tables, mobile phones, and any other electronic device are not permitted inside the exam center. Only rough sheets provided by the invigilator may be used for calculations, and these are collected back at the end of the exam.

There is no single universal "good score" — NTA normalizes scores per subject and shift, and each university sets its own cutoff independently. A score that is competitive for one university's program may fall short at another, so check your target university's previous-year cutoffs rather than aiming for a fixed number.

NTA charges a modest per-subject application fee that varies by category (General/OBC/SC-ST etc.) and by the number of subjects/domains you choose, payable online during registration. Check the official CUET UG bulletin for the exact fee structure for your cycle.

No. CUET UG only conducts the entrance test and issues a scorecard — there is no centralized interview or single counselling round run by NTA. Similar to how CUET PG works, each participating university runs its own separate counselling and admission process using the CUET UG score as an input.

Carry a printed admit card, a valid original photo ID matching the one used at registration, and a passport-size photograph if specified in the admit card instructions. Electronic devices, watches, and study material are not allowed inside the exam center.
