Eligibility

Who Can Apply.

No entrance exam history or prior management background needed.

Class 10
Pass from any recognized board with Mathematics as a compulsory subject — no minimum percentage specified.
Class 12
Minimum 60% for General/EWS/NC-OBC, 55% for SC/ST/PwD. Appearing students can also apply.
Nationality
Indian nationals only.
Tech Requirements
Reliable internet and a laptop/desktop — course delivery is entirely online.
Income/category note: EWS/NC-OBC family income threshold is ₹8 lakh/year. Certificates must be dated per the admission cycle's specified date.
Selection Process

What Happens After The Test.

No separate interview round — here's exactly how a raw score turns into a seat.

Score Submission
Submit your IIMB DBE Entrance Test score, or a valid CUET (UG) General Test / JEE Main score from the last 3 cycles.
Direct Merit-Based Shortlist
Unlike IIM Bangalore's CAT-based MBA admissions, DBE has no separate Written Ability Test or Personal Interview round — shortlisting is based directly on your best submitted raw score.
Document Verification
Shortlisted candidates verify Class 10 & 12 certificates, category/income certificates (where applicable), and ID proof.
Registration & Fee Payment
Confirm your seat by paying the Term-1 fee within the specified window — the seat is only secured once payment clears.
No PI/WAT stage: because three different entry routes (IIMB test, CUET, JEE) feed one merit list, IIM Bangalore keeps DBE selection to score-plus-documents, with no separate interview round like its MBA programmes.
Stackable Structure

Three Exit Points, One Programme.

NEP 2020's multi-exit model — you're not locked into 3 years upfront.

Year 1 · 45 Credits
Certificate
Certificate in Digital Business & Entrepreneurship
The shortest commitment — useful to test the format or pause after one year.
Year 3 · 135 Credits
Full Degree
BBA in Digital Business & Entrepreneurship
The complete IIM Bangalore-branded degree.
Dual-degree friendly: because it's asynchronous, many students pursue it alongside a traditional offline degree. Full programme must finish within 6 years.
Fees & Cutoffs

What It Costs. What It Takes.

IIMB DBE doesn't publish a percentile cutoff — selection is a merit list from raw test scores.

CategoryTotal Fee (3 yrs)Per-Term FeeWaiver
General / EWS / NC-OBC₹4,50,000₹41,660–₹50,000None
SC / ST / PwD₹2,25,000~₹20,830–25,00050% fee waiver

Term structure: fees payable term-wise across 9 trimesters rather than one upfront payment.

CategoryApplication FeeRefundable?
General / EWS / NC-OBC₹3,000Non-refundable
SC / ST / PwD₹1,500Non-refundable

Important: non-refundable under all circumstances, including incomplete final submission.

Selection FactorHow It Works
Merit List BasisRaw scores from best submitted test — not a percentile system like CAT/XAT
Seats Available~1,000 per cohort
CUET Section UsedOnly the General Test (Section III)

Why there's no fixed cutoff: three entry routes feeding one merit list means no single percentile threshold like CAT/XAT.

Career Scope

Why This Degree Matters.

Most IIMs only offer postgraduate programmes — here's what sets BBA (DBE) apart.

IIM Brand, Direct From School
IIM Bangalore ranks among India's top 2-3 management institutes by NIRF.
Entrepreneurship-First Curriculum
Digital marketing, product management, UX/UI, data analytics, startup strategy.
Corporate Networking Marketplace
A dedicated digital platform connects graduates with high-growth firms.
Stack With Another Degree
Commonly paired with a parallel offline degree — dual-credential resume.
Previous Year Analysis

Reading The Trend.

DBE is a newer entrance test, so treat these as qualitative observations rather than fixed patterns.

Balanced Section Weightage
QA/DI, Reasoning, VARC, GA
All four sections have appeared with broadly comparable weightage — no section has been flagged as a clear high-scoring priority over the others.
The GA Section Stands Out
Uncommon at this level
A dedicated General Awareness section is unusual for a Class-12-level entrance test and rewards students who build a current-affairs habit well before test day, rather than last-minute cramming.
Still An Evolving Format
Cycle-to-cycle refinement
As a relatively new programme, format details can be refined between cycles — always cross-check the latest official notification on dbe.iimb.ac.in rather than assuming last year's pattern is locked in.
Preparation Strategy

A Plan For Every Starting Point.

Tailored to QA/DI, Reasoning, VARC, and GA — and to DBE's digital-business, entrepreneurship-first focus.

Beginner: Foundations First
Build core arithmetic, grammar, and reasoning fundamentals from Class 8-10 level material, and start a daily 15-minute current-affairs habit early — GA scores compound over months, not weeks.
Intermediate: Sectional Speed
Shift to timed sectional practice across QA/DI, Reasoning, and VARC; start solving DI caselets and para-jumbles against the clock, and keep a weekly GA revision notebook.
Advanced: Full Mock Cycle
Take full-length 90-minute mocks under real exam conditions, review errors section-wise, and lock in your attempt order and time allocation across all four sections before test day.
Parallel Track: CUET/JEE Aspirants
If you're also targeting the CUET General Test or JEE Main, align your prep — CUET's General Test overlaps heavily with DBE's QA/Reasoning/VARC syllabus, so one track can serve both routes.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

A 3-year online undergraduate degree in Digital Business and Entrepreneurship — IIM Bangalore's first fully online UG programme, open right after Class 12, with a flexible completion window of up to 6 years.

Class 10 pass from any recognized board with Mathematics as a compulsory subject, and Class 12 pass with at least 60% for General/EWS/NC-OBC or 55% for SC/ST/PwD. Appearing students can also apply. Open only to Indian nationals.

Appear for the IIMB DBE Entrance Test, or submit a valid CUET (UG) General Test or JEE Main score from the last 3 cycles. IIM Bangalore considers your best submitted score.

A 90-minute, 60-question computer-based test across Quantitative Aptitude & DI, Logical Analytical Reasoning, Verbal Ability & RC, and General Awareness — held offline at designated centres.

Total programme fee is ₹4,50,000 over 3 years, payable term-wise. SC/ST/PwD candidates get a 50% waiver (₹2,25,000 total). Application fee is ₹3,000 (or ₹1,500 for reserved categories).

Yes — a stackable NEP 2020 multi-exit model. Year 1 (45 credits) = Certificate. Year 2 (90 credits) = Diploma. All 3 years (135 credits) = full BBA (DBE) Degree.

IPM is a 5-year on-campus dual-degree (BA/BBA + MBA) via IPMAT. BBA (DBE) is a 3-year, fully online, asynchronous degree from IIM Bangalore with multi-exit flexibility and no MBA component built in.

The IIMB DBE entrance test is conducted once per year as part of a single annual admission cycle, so you can appear in it once per cycle. There's no official cap on how many yearly cycles a candidate can apply in, provided the Class 10/12 eligibility criteria are met at the time of application.

Computer-based aptitude tests of this kind typically don't permit physical or on-screen calculators for the Quantitative Aptitude & DI section, so it's safest to practice mental math and estimation. Always confirm the exact in-test tool policy from your official admit card or test-day instructions closer to the date.

IIM Bangalore doesn't publish a percentile cutoff or sectional cutoffs for DBE — selection is a straight merit list built from raw scores across the roughly 1,000 available seats. Rather than chasing one target number, focus on maximizing accurate attempts across all four sections, since a merit-list system doesn't let one strong section offset weak accuracy elsewhere.

No. Unlike IIM Bangalore's CAT-based MBA admissions, BBA (DBE) selection is based directly on your entrance test, CUET, or JEE Main score — there's no separate Written Ability Test or Personal Interview round. Shortlisted candidates move straight from the merit list to document verification and registration.

Shortlisted candidates typically need Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets/certificates, category certificates for SC/ST/PwD/EWS/NC-OBC applicants (including the income certificate where the ₹8 lakh/year threshold applies), and valid ID proof for registration verification. Keep certificates dated per the admission cycle's specified requirement, since mismatched dates can delay registration.
