Use the first mock as a diagnostic
Attempt the first full-length mock early. With four sections — VALR, DM, QADI and GK — it shows which one is holding your score back.
Practise Decision Making early
Decision Making is the section XAT is known for, with 21 questions in the XAT 2027 pattern. Use the 2 free DM sectionals to get used to it before relying on general MBA-entrance prep.
Plan for the two-part structure
Part 1 runs 170 minutes and Part 2 is a separate 10-minute, GK-only part. Practise finishing Part 1 on schedule so that Part 2 does not catch you rushed.
Fix the weakest section with sectionals
Use the free sectionals on the section your first mock exposed. VALR, DM and QADI together carry most of the 95 questions, so they are usually worth the first attention.
Re-test after revising

Yes. Free tests are taken on the Thinkoraa student platform, so you need a free student account. Registering is free and does not require payment.
What is the XAT exam pattern?+
Based on the XAT 2027 pattern, the exam has 95 questions across four sections — Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning (26), Decision Making (21), Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation (28), and General Knowledge (20) — in a 3-hour computer-based test: 170 minutes for Part 1 and 10 minutes for the GK-only Part 2.
How is the XAT exam divided into parts?+
XAT runs in two parts: 170 minutes for Part 1 and a separate 10 minutes for the GK-only Part 2, making a 3-hour computer-based test.
What is the XAT marking scheme?+
Each correct answer gets +1 mark and each incorrect answer loses 0.25. You can skip up to 8 questions without penalty; beyond that, 0.1 marks are deducted per skipped question. The GK section has no negative marking and is not counted toward your overall percentile, though XLRI considers it in final selection.
What does the Decision Making section test?+
Decision Making presents business and ethical caselets — trade-offs between stakeholders, managerial dilemmas and situational judgement calls. It has no fixed syllabus and no formula-based questions; it tests how consistently and reasonably you make judgement calls.
Is a calculator allowed in XAT?+
No physical calculators are allowed. A basic on-screen scientific calculator is provided inside the computer-based test interface for calculation-heavy QADI questions.
What is the difference between a full-length mock and a sectional test?+
A full-length mock covers all 4 XAT sections — VALR, DM, QADI, GK — and simulates the whole exam. A sectional test, such as the free VALR sectional, covers only Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning so you can work on that one area in isolation.
How are the free tests different from the paid XAT test series?+
